I Am a Designer and This Place Left Me Speechless: Inside Viluz Marbella

I have walked into hundreds of spaces in my 17 years as an interior designer.

Hundreds. And I read them instantly — the materials, the light, the proportions, the feeling the designer was trying to create. It is just what I do. I cannot switch it off.

But Viluz stopped me.

Not in a polite “oh this is lovely” way. In a genuine — I had to just stand there and take it in — kind of way. Because what Wim built here on these 4 hectares in the hills above Marbella is not a retreat centre. It is a design masterpiece. And I say that as someone who is not easily impressed.

Let me tell you what I actually saw as a designer. Because you deserve to know what makes this place so different.

viluz marbella

The location alone is already a statement.

10 to 15 minutes drive from Marbella center. That is it. You think you are going somewhere far — and then you arrive and it feels like a completely different world. Mountains all around you. The Mediterranean stretching out below. A micro-climate that is quieter and cooler and somehow cleaner than everything on the coast.

And then 10 minutes drive in the other direction — one of the cleanest, least crowded beaches in the whole area. I am serious. Crystal water. Almost no people. The kind of beach you think does not exist near Marbella anymore.

This combination of mountain retreat AND the best beach access — I have never seen it done this well anywhere on the Costa del Sol. You have both. Without compromise. Without driving an hour.

When you find a location like this as a designer — you protect it. You build around it. You let it be the main event. And that is exactly what happened at Viluz.

viluz marbella

The design style. Let me tell you what I see.

Whitewashed walls. Natural raw stone. Warm terracotta. Aged timber that has weight and honesty to it. Organic cotton and linen everywhere — not as decoration but as a functional choice because these materials breathe in Andalucian heat. Nothing is synthetic. Nothing is fighting anything else.

The palette is literally the landscape. The hills, the earth, the light. And this sounds simple but it is incredibly hard to do without making a space feel either too cold or too decorated. Viluz lands exactly where it needs to — warm, intentional, completely natural.

There is a Moroccan thread running through the property. A Japanese path. Finnish sauna. Ice bath. Ayurvedic philosophy in the food. These influences should not work together. In another person’s hands they would feel chaotic. Here they feel completely natural — like a person who has travelled deeply and brought pieces of each place home with them.

Because that is exactly what this is. Wim’s personal vision. His lived experience. You cannot fake this feeling and you cannot brief it into existence. A space either has this energy or it does not. Viluz has it.

The rooms. This is where I lost my mind a little.

10 suites. Each named after a moon goddess — Luna, Saraswati, Mawu, Isis, Quan Yin, Indun, Uma, Lasya, Hanwi, Selene. And this naming is not just poetic — each room was designed as its own world. Its own energy. Sea view. Mountain view. Garden view. Lake view. You choose where you need to be.

But the thing that got me most as a designer is this — every single room has its own private entrance through the gardens. Not a shared corridor. Not a hotel hallway. You walk through nature to get to your room. You see nobody if you do not want to. Your suite is completely independent from every other guest’s world.

This is the decision of someone who truly understood what inner peace actually requires. Real privacy. Real silence. Real separation from other people’s energy.

Luna — the largest suite — is 40 square metres inside plus a 50 square metre private terrace directly facing the Mediterranean. Sunrise and moonrise both, straight from your terrace. That terrace alone is bigger than most hotel rooms I have stayed in across Europe. And then you add the view and the soundproofed walls and the floor heating and the bath tub and the walk-in shower and the separate WC… I mean. This is a seriously thought-through room.

All rooms have modern amenities — air conditioning, ceiling fans, bathrobes, organic amenities, safe, WiFi (switched off at 10pm so you actually sleep — I love this decision). The luxury here is in the detail and the intention, not in the noise.

The territory. This is the part that blew me away completely.

4 hectares. And every single corner of it was designed to create a different internal state in whoever is experiencing it.

I have never seen this done in an outdoor space before. Not like this.

The Yoga Deck is positioned with mountain views on all sides — it is elevated, open, the kind of space where your whole chest opens up before you have even started moving. The Chakra Labyrinth is a geometric barefoot path — every step brings your attention inward, naturally, without you having to try. The Meditation Tree is this ancient sacred tree at the heart of the property that creates something I can only describe as a vertical axis — earth below, sky above, and you in the middle of it. Something shifts just sitting near it.

The Japanese Path slows you down. The Moroccan Garden with its geometry and shade creates a completely meditative quality that is almost architectural. The Sunset Meditation Point is positioned exactly right — you know how you can tell when someone has stood somewhere at sunset fifty times before deciding to put a seat there? This is that.

There is a lake. A natural pond that adds water and reflection and a completely different acoustic to the property. Water changes everything — the light, the sound, the quality of thought you have near it. Its placement within the territory is perfect.

And then there are the hammock terrace, the reflexology path (handmade — the handmade detail matters enormously), the Kilimanjaro Table, the Hierbas Garden, the old stone sun terraces, the tea house…

Every single one of these spaces is positioned with intention. Light, views, acoustics, time of day. The kind of thinking that goes into this is the same thinking that goes into the best interior projects I have worked on in my career. Except here it is applied to an entire landscape.

The wellness facilities are real.

17-metre outdoor chlorine-free swimming pool with mountain views. Hammam. Finnish sauna — intimate, for 2 to 3 people, which is exactly the right scale for a property like this. Ice bath. Treatment room for full body work. Massage room. Serenity Salon as a dedicated indoor quiet space. A library — a real one, Biblioteca — that says everything about the intelligence behind this place.

The pool is set into the landscape so the views are part of the experience. The thermal circuit of sauna, hammam and ice bath works as a complete system. Nothing feels like an afterthought. Nothing feels like it was added later.

The food is part of the design too.

Vegetarian. Ayurvedic principles. Fresh local seasonal ingredients. Full board includes a morning energy shot, brunch, afternoon snack and a three-course dinner. Organic wines available for individual stays.

The alignment between what is on the plate and what the whole property stands for is complete. You do not arrive at a place like this and then eat food that contradicts everything the environment is trying to give you. This sounds obvious. It almost never happens.

Who is this place for?

Honestly — anyone who needs to come back to themselves.

But practically — the whole estate can be exclusively booked. All 10 rooms. All 4 hectares. All facilities. The full Viluz experience just for your group. This is ideal for retreats, corporate offsites, leadership gatherings, private wellness intensives, celebrations, high-end weddings. And the price for exclusive hire is genuinely one of the best propositions of its kind near Marbella — especially for what you get.

For individual stays — adults only, completely private, fully supported by the Viluz team. Retreat programs run across weekends and full weeks. And if you are a retreat leader who wants to host your own program on site — that is also available.

As a designer I can tell you — what has been created here is rare.

The rooms, the territory, the materials, the views, the layout, the outdoor spaces — every single decision builds on the one before it. There is a clear vision behind all of it and it has been executed with real care. You feel it the moment you walk in. And you keep feeling it, in different ways, in every different space on the property.

Whether you come for the design, for the wellness, for the manifesting, for the silence — you will find what you came for here. I am sure of it.

What makes Viluz the best place for manifestation in Spain?

Viluz is more than a standard meditation center; it is a dedicated energy portal designed for rapid manifestation.

Read the full story of true manifestation I made in just a week after I visited Viluz!

Unlike typical resorts, Viluz combines stylish, independently insulated suites for deep personal focus with high-vibration spaces like a massive dance arena and sacred outdoor meditation spots. This unique combination allows guests to clear old blockages and align with their goals in record time.

Is Viluz suitable for hosting spiritual retreats and healing workshops?

Yes. Viluz is specifically engineered for spiritual workers, healers, and community leaders. The center provides a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere with professional-grade facilities for yoga, meditative dancing, and group rituals. If you are looking to lead a community through a life-changing transformation, the environment at Viluz acts as a catalyst for your group’s collective intentions.

Where is Viluz located and how can I visit?

Viluz is a premier spiritual destination located in a serene, high-energy region of Spain, perfect for those seeking a break from the noise of city life. To maintain an atmosphere of inner peace and concentration, visits are typically arranged via our representatives. You can contact our official representative via DM or email to get details on upcoming retreat dates or to book the venue for your own spiritual community.

Can a weekend at Viluz really help with business and career breakthroughs?

Absolutely. Many visitors, including our own representatives, report significant breakthroughs in business growth, passion-led projects, and financial flow following a stay. By removing the “soul-draining” tasks of daily life and utilizing the center’s manifestation rituals, guests often find the clarity and energy needed to scale their businesses and move into work that truly “sets them on fire.”

How do I contact a Viluz representative to book a stay?

What makes Viluz different from any other wellness place near Marbella?

Everything. But if I had to pick one thing — it is that you stop thinking about what you came here to solve. And that is when everything starts to shift.

Most wellness places keep you in your head. You arrive with your list, your goals, your intentions, your problems. And the space around you does not really help you put any of that down. You are still you, just in a nicer location.

Viluz is different. The territory, the materials, the silence, the separate entrance to your own private suite, the specific way each outdoor space is designed — it all works on you quietly, without forcing anything. You sit by the lake and something loosens. You walk the chakra labyrinth barefoot and your thoughts slow down on their own. You stand at the sunset point and whatever you were carrying feels lighter. Not because someone told you to let go. Just because the environment is doing its work.

This is what great design actually does. It changes your internal state without you noticing the mechanism.

And that is the exact condition in which manifestation happens. Not when you are trying. When you have finally stopped.

Is this place just for spiritual people?

No. And I say this as someone who walked in as a designer, completely analytical, looking at proportions and materials and spatial logic.

Viluz gets to everyone. It just works differently depending on who you are. For spiritual practitioners it is an amplifier. For people who are burned out it is a reset. For people who have been stuck — in their career, in their thinking, in their life — it is the kind of stillness that makes the next step suddenly obvious.

You do not need to meditate. You do not need to know anything about Ayurveda or moon goddesses or chakras. You just need to be willing to slow down. The place does the rest.

What do you actually do there all day?

Whatever you need.

You can start the morning on the yoga deck with mountain views all around you. Move to the hammam. Do a round of sauna and ice bath — this thermal circuit alone is worth the trip. Have brunch in the gardens. Walk the reflexology path barefoot. Read in the library. Sit by the lake and do nothing. Get a massage. Walk to the meditation tree and stay there as long as you want.

Or you do a full retreat program — yoga, meditation, sound bath, Reiki, counselling. Everything you need is here on site, with real practitioners.

There is no schedule you have to follow. There is no pressure. The day just unfolds and you move through these spaces and at some point you realise you have not checked your phone in four hours and you feel completely fine about it.

That feeling — I did not expect it to happen as fast as it did. But this is what the design is doing. Every detail of this place is pulling you away from the noise and back to yourself.

What is the best way to experience Viluz — individual stay or exclusive hire?

Both are completely different experiences and both are extraordinary.

Individual stays are boutique — maximum 20 guests across the 10 suites, adults only, deeply private. You come alone, as a couple, or with a small group of close friends. You have access to everything. The pool, the spa, the gardens, all the outdoor meditation spaces, the full board meals. You share the estate with a handful of other guests you may never even see, because everyone has their own private entrance and their own corner of this territory.

Exclusive hire is the full property — all 10 rooms, all 4 hectares, every single facility — reserved entirely for your group. No other guests. Just your people and the whole of Viluz. This is ideal for retreats, corporate offsites, private celebrations, leadership gatherings, or high-end multi-day weddings. And the price for this level of exclusivity near Marbella is genuinely something I have not seen matched anywhere.

How many rooms are there and what are they like?

10 suites, each named after a moon goddess — Luna, Saraswati, Mawu, Isis, Quan Yin, Indun, Uma, Lasya, Hanwi, Selene. A mix of doubles and twins, with views of the sea, the mountains, the gardens, or the lake.

Every room has its own private entrance through the Mediterranean gardens. Spacious ensuite bathrooms, private terraces, soundproofed walls, air conditioning, floor heating, ceiling fan, bathrobes, organic amenities. The largest suite — Luna — is 40 square metres of interior plus a 50 square metre private terrace directly facing the sea.

The rooms are luxurious but not in a showy way. Everything is in service of comfort and stillness. You walk into your room and you exhale.

Can I bring my retreat community here?

Yes — and this is actually where Viluz really comes alive.

If you are a retreat leader, a healer, a coach, or a conscious community organiser — you can hire the whole estate for your program. The space works for yoga retreats, meditation intensives, creative workshops, writing retreats, business and leadership offsites. Wim and the team support you in making your vision work within the Viluz environment.

The great arena on the property holds larger group gatherings — meditative dance, sound ceremonies, group workshops. Combined with all the intimate outdoor spaces for smaller circles and individual work — you have an infrastructure that serves both the collective and the individual at the same time. Very few places are designed to do both.

What about the food?

Plant-based, Ayurvedic-informed, built around fresh local seasonal ingredients from the area. Full board includes a morning energy shot, a wholesome brunch, an afternoon snack, and a light three-course dinner. Organic wines available for individual stays.

I will just say — the food is as considered as every other part of this place. Nothing here is an afterthought.

How do I get there?

10 to 15 minutes from the centre of Marbella. 35 minutes from Málaga Airport. And 10 minutes from one of the cleanest, most beautiful and least crowded beaches on this coastline.

It sounds close and it is — but the moment you arrive you feel completely removed from everything. That is the micro-climate and the altitude and the mountains doing their work before you have even walked through the gate.

Ready to come?

Email me at info@basicoutline.com or WhatsApp me at +34 691 579 355 — I am a Viluz representative and I will help you figure out the right way to experience this place for where you are right now.

Individual stay, exclusive hire, hosting your own retreat — let’s talk about what makes sense for you.

This “Home of Inner Peace” is tucked away in the serene hills of La Mairena, within the Sierra de las Nieves biosphere. Its unique micro-climate and sacred natural light make it the ultimate portal for manifestation and spiritual healing in the Costa del Sol.

How do I get there? Located just a short drive from the historic center of Marbella and approximately 35 minutes from Málaga Airport, the retreat is easily accessible while remaining a world apart from the noise of daily life.
